Cowden Care Farm offers adults with Low to Medium level learning disabilities real hands on work/job experience, but at the same time “having a good day” doing the jobs everybody in the general community undertakes on a daily basis.
This service strives to meet the requirements of the March 2001 Government white paper, which focuses on developing day services offering training and support to achieve a greater opportunity for future meaningful and where possible paid work placement.
The site is also open to the general public as an Equestrian Centre and small animal farm. This benefits and promotes interaction between different ability groups.
The site has good facilities and provisions to support groups, but the service delivery will focus on a person centred approach ensuring the needs of the individual are met.
